The Sri Lanka Wildlife Conservation Society is looking to hire Full or Part Time the following personnel.

1. Sociology Research Assistant

The applicant must be able to meet the following requirements;

Professional Skills:

Passed GCE (A/L), (preference shall be given to degree holders having Sociology as a subject )
Prior experience in Field Based Research
Fluency in Sinhala and Tamil (written and verbal skills will be added advantage)
English (written and verbal)
Basic Computer skills (Microsoft word and Excel)

Practical Skills:

Willing to travel to the remote areas
Flexible and Adaptive
Hard-working
Must be able to work in teams in challenging, stimulating and diverse conditions
Strong inter-personal and communication skills
Believing in gender diversity, men and women will be given equal preference

Terms of References:

Set up community based organizations to facilitate SLWCS projects and research
Work as an assistant in all community base projects
Conduct PRA and RRA at the buffer zone communities where SLWCS projects are going on, to gather baseline data on:
Socio economic condition
Environmental impact
Land use patterns
Data entry and analysis
Write up concept notes to develop proposal for the vision of SLWCS.

2. MSc qualified Field Researchers

with at least 3 years of field experience in any of the following areas of field research -elephant, leopard, turtle, dolphins and other marine and terrestrial biodiversity.

Multiple positions in each discipline.
Chosen candidates would need to work for a minimum of 10 days per month on the project at remote project sites and dedicate time to write reports and other material.
Currently work will be in parts of the Puttalam, Polonnaruwa, Matale, Ampara, Colombo and Hambantota districts depending on the project.
These individuals will be responsible for field research for SLWCS's Marine, Wetlands and Terrestrial Conservation Projects including the "Saving Elephants by Helping People" project and the "Wetlands Conservation" Project.

3. Research/Operations/Publicity Assistants with A'Level qualifications and some field experience.

Multiple position are open.
Chosen candidate will need to work in Colombo and at SLWCS rural sites to assist the management and directors in achieving the goals and objectives of the society.
The position is multidisciplinary and there will be extensive on-the-job training.
Currently work will be in parts of the Puttalam, Polonnaruwa, Matale, Ampara, Colombo and Hambantota districts depending on the project.
GIS knowledge, technical skills including computer design skills (web and/or print), public advocacy, finance/accounting and human-resource management skills will be an added benefit.
